Katherine Mohr holds the unique distinction of being the first second-generation female bowmaker in the United States, which is reflected in her business name, Fille de Mohr.  She has extensively studied the craft of bow making and restoration under the guidance of her father, Rodney D. Mohr, a world-renowned, award-winning bowmaker.

Since 2013, Katherine has served clients in the greater Cleveland, Ohio, area and across the country.  To date, she has crafted over 80 bows that are currently played in orchestras around the world.  Her clientele includes soloists, members of the Cleveland Orchestra, and students from the Cleveland Institute of Music and the Oberlin Conservatory, and countless freelance musicians.  Many of her bows can be found in the hands of players throughout the USA, as well as Canada, Scotland, and Spain.

Katherine’s passion for teaching began in 2014, while assisting Rodney with his rehairing, restoration, and bow-making workshops with Learning Trade Secrets, LLC, “A Fine Stringed Instrument Making & Restoration Program”, where she has assisted in teaching over 250 students bow rehairing, restoration, and bow making.  She is currently a member and a past board member of the Violin Society of America, where she contributed to the creation of their social media and New Professionals committees. She also plans to compete in the Violin Society of America’s Making Competitions, which is to be held in Cleveland in 2026.

Outside of her professional life, she enjoys the camaraderie she finds with the Order of the Eastern Star, an organization whose values of charity, truth, and loving kindness closely mirror her own. She is also a member of the Theosophical Society in America, where she revels in the ability to learn, explore, and grow her knowledge of world religions and spirituality.
